Something happened last weekend that can only be described as what a lady in my church calls a “God moment.” My daughter had been studying bats all week at school. The topic had piqued her interest, and we had talked about bats and her new found knowledge every evening after school. During this week, I had agreed to check out the new Buddy Box, a monthly care package that helps parents enforce topics at home centered around God’s love, Jesus, and faith. When the Buddy Box arrived at our door, the monthly topic was Pat the Bat!
Yep, it was a Buddy Box that used a cute little bat. The discussion topics in the box even mentioned terms like echolocation and other science words that she had learned in class that week. She was so excited and felt like the box had been made and delivered especially for her!
It’s no secret that I discuss faith topics on my blog. The Craft Through the Bible series has been popular. I created this series because I know how important, yet sometimes difficult, that it can be to reinforce church topics in the home setting. While it is always important for parents to take hold of impromptu teachable moments, it also helps to pre-plan faith based discussion topics and activities. After our experience with the Buddy Box, I definitely recommend it as a way to help parents in this endeavor.
I’ve worked in children and youth ministry for years, and my husband is a youth minister. When talking to kids about their faith and their home life, one of the most frequent things that we hear is that they do not see their parents’ faith carried out in their home throughout the week outside of church. My husband has found that many parents feel ill-equipped to discuss faith topics at home, even with younger kids. The Buddy Box is a great place to start. Filled with activities and faith-filled surprises, the Buddy Box helps kids receive faith based lessons even if they were not able to attend church on Sunday or their parents do not know where to start when having these discussions with them.
The box includes lots of activities, including coloring sheets, stickers, and crafts.
The box came with this multi-colored clay that we can use over and over to make clay shapes, including these Simple Clay Crosses.

This looks like so much fun! My nieces would absolutely love this for Halloween. They have birthdays coming up this week so I’ll have to check it out!
This is such a cute idea! I agree that it was definitely a God Moment! I love when things happen like that 🙂
