Breakfast in Bed Tray with Cricut

Made with adhesive foil, this Breakfast in Bed Tray is a stylish addition to a time of relaxation. This post contains affiliate links, which won’t cost you extra, but helps support this site. This post is sponsored by Cricut. All opinions and photos are my own.

Breakfast in bed shouldn’t be a Mother’s Day only occurrence. The lazy days of summer should include a few special breakfasts full of relaxation, too. Make this Breakfast in Bed Tray for yourself, and maybe the kids will take the hint.

I used a 50% off coupon at a local arts and crafts store, and I already had the paint and other supplies to complete this tray. The total cost was about $3!

Supplies:

  • Wood tray – Local arts and crafts stores carry a variety of sizes, but these can be somewhat lightweight. Feel free to use any tray that you have or that you have made, as long as it is plain.
  • White paint
  • Paint brush/paint roller
  • Cricut Explore Air or Cricut Explore Air 2
  • Cricut Standard Grip Cutting Mat
  • Cricut Adhesive Foil
  • Optional: Cricut Tranfser Tape – I have found the Cricut Adhesive Foil to be so sturdy that I do not typically use Transfer Tape, but feel free to use if needed.
  • Clear coating spray

Paint the tray with as many coats as it takes to be fully covered. Let dry completely.

Measure the inside portion of the tray.

Open up Cricut Design Space.

If you choose to not use it and design your own, first create a rectangle the size of the inside portion of the tray. This rectangle will NOT be cut, but it is for reference so that you can add the other elements and see how they will fit inside the tray. Add a small and large ring and a knife, spoon, and fork image from Cricut Design Space. Arrange these on the rectangle. Once you have the layout complete, delete the rectangle so that it does not cut. Attach all of these elements together.

Measure the rim of the tray and design whatever phrase/words that you would like to have on the outside of the tray, if desired.

Cut the design out with your Cricut and the Adhesive Foil.

Adhere the foil to the tray.

Apply the clear coat spray to seal the design. Let dry/cure completely before using.

Cricut has a selection of Adhesive Foil to go with any decor. Adhesive foil is one of my favorite Cricut crafting materials. I especially enjoy using it during the holidays, like with this Adhesive Foil ornament.

I love how the tray is created with the pre-set areas on it (here’s where the drink goes, silverware, etc). Very stylish! The directions on supplies and how to make the tray are easy to explain. Your pictures are very creative!

Oh my gosh, how cute is that? I love the color that you used! I really want a Cricut. I’ll be honest, I haven’t the foggiest idea how I would use it, but I see so many cute projects made with it that I just really want one! It looks like you can do a zillion things with it!

WOW, this is awesome! I have four trays like this under my sink and I really need to refurbish them. This is such a great idea and I agree, it don’t have to be a special day to enjoy breakfast in bed.

My husband makes us breakfast in bed every Sunday morning. I kid you not, he’s been doing it for as long as I can remember and it’s such a gift. I love these cute trays! Something personalized makes everything more special. Can’t wait to show him your post. He’s always looking for a new project and my guess is pancakes will be served on these sometime in the near future!

This is super cute. I’m not very creative, so I never would have thought to do this. I just love it. I might even give it a try. Or I might have to show it to my crafty friend and ask her to try it.

This is such a fun idea. I might make a few of these for gifts for Christmas. I think it is a fun DIY project that is easy but really great. Turned out perfect. Totally see myself doing this for friends and family.

This tray may be one of the easier DIY project and the pre-set placements are so cute! I’d love to make this and “hint” at my family to make me breakfast in bed…lol!

Wow, that is such a cool project! Getting breakfast in bed is literally the best! This would be a wonderful project to do for Mother’s Day of Father’s Day next year too with the kiddos!

This is such a cute idea for breakfast in bed to say the least. I’ve always wanted a cricut machine, I have so many ideas for it. This would look really cute for little kids on a place mat, to teach them how to set the table. That alone could be a whole new project.
