11 Board Books for Beginning Readers

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #MyLiteracyStory #DGMyStoryEntry #CollectiveBias  I’m partnering with Dollar General to bring you my list of our favorite 11 Board Books for Beginning Readers.

This past summer, I attempted to preschool the triplets at home. We focused on learning letters through play and letter games. Since the boys are the same age, I thought that working with them together in a group would be acceptable. The boys giggled their way through alphabet puzzles and magnet letters. They seemed to truly be making progress.

Until I separated them.

At this point, I realized that two of my boys had learned the entire alphabet while the other could only recognize a handful of letters. His creative mind only wandered while his brothers were concentrating on the alphabet. In honesty, he simply didn’t care a bit about learning letters or reading.

I began helping him individually by creating games that appealed to his interests. He has progressed tremendously, and he even pretends to read his Star Wars books aloud to his brothers.

One thing that we have incorporated is letting the boys take turns in choosing their daily stories. These 11 board books are favorites that they choose time and time again. Have your little ones read any of these 11 Board Books that are great for beginning readers?

Many children today begin reading at an early age and this is thanks to the free apps that are available in Appstore or Google Play Store. However, it’s still nice to have them ead hard bound books and in physical format every once in a while. These ones on the Kellogg’s look interesting.

These are some of our favorites and we still have them even though our kids are older now. Whenever we have to buy a baby gift for a baby shower we always add a book or two into the gift bag. Usually it is one of these. Books are perfect for every age, even infant

This is a great list, almost all of these are my kid’s favorites. All of my kids learned to read at different paces… my oldest really needed to be pushed – he’s ten and he still dislikes reading, but my two middle boys love to read! They’re often so lost in a book they don’t hear us calling them. My seven year old hopes to be an author/illustrator and has a whole shelf of books he’s written himself at home. They’re the best books we own in my opinion ;). I love watching them get lost in a good story – there’s nothing like it!

I think we had every single one of these books, except for the goat one, when my boys were little. They especially loved “llama Llama Red Pajama” and the whole series of those books!

I had so many of these when my son was little. Llama Llama Red Pajama was hands down Jake’s favorite. In fact, I could recite the entire story to him from memory! Another one that we really loved was “Bear Wakes Up.” The rhythm was similar to the Llama Llama series and so much fun to read.

What a great resource to encourage reading. I love board books and this seems to be a great way to collect them. It is great that Dollar General and Kellogg’s are supporting literacy. I will have to shop there because of it!

Oh my goodness! My kids LOVED Board books when they were little! Eric Carle was a favorite. I miss those days, cherish them while they are little. It doesn’t last forever….even though sometimes it feels like it will.

I USED TO LOVE BOARD BOOKS AND AM SO GLAD MY SON DOES TOO. THERE’S SOMETHING ABOUT THEM THAT MAKES EACH STORY SO SPECIAL, NOT TO MENTION EASY TO READ FOR THE BEGINNERS. IT’S AMAZING TO SEE COMPANIES LIKE KELLOGG’S AND DOLLAR GENERAL REALLY GETTING INVOLVED WITH OUR KIDS’ EDUCATION. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THAT!

It’s nice that Dollar General and Kellogg’s are both supporting literacy. We actually have 3 of these books, I’m gonna try and get the rest. But you just gave me an idea. I think I want to help kids who can’t really afford to these board books to have a chance to own them.

These books all look so fun. I’ve heard about the Llama Llama Red Pajama and a few others. Maybe a gift idea for my niece and nephew who live outside the country. Love that Dollar General and Kellogg’s are helping bring literacy to everyone.
