Blingy Boo Sign

I had a relaxing craft afternoon creating this Blingy Boo Sign for Halloween. Thank you to FloraCraft for sending the FloraCraft Make It: Fun® Foam and sponsoring this project. 

 

I’m having a difficult time wrapping my head around the fact that it is October 20, and I still have not completed my Halloween decorating. My daughter reminds me of this fact at least every other day. I do miss the fun seasonal decorating that I was able to accomplish in the pre-triplet days. So when FloraCraft sent me a box of foam and challenged me to put a spin on one of their projects in their Halloween booklet, I was excited to have the perfect excuse to snag a crafting afternoon that would put me one step closer to accomplishing my decorating goal!

 

I love traditional black and white for Halloween decorating. While flipping through the Halloween booklet, an adorable spooky Blingy Boo Sign caught my eye. After all, sparkles are awesome! Instead of having three different blocks for the letters, I decided to make smaller letters and place them all on one platform.

 

 

Supplies:

• (1) 7 7/8″ by 15/16″ FloraCraft Make It: Fun® Foam Disc
• (3) 3 x 1 FloraCraft Make It: Fun® Foam Discs
• (1) 18″ dowel rod, cut into  three pieces
• (3) Fabric circles cut to the size to cover and wrap around the 3 small discs
• (3) 3″ Fabric felt circles
• Hot glue gun and hot glue sticks
• Scissors
• Black paint
• Design It:® Simple Style® Diamond Wrap
• Spider webbing

 

Paint the  7 7/8″ by 15/16″ FloraCraft Make It: Fun® Foam Disc black. I used black spray paint, but an acrylic paint should work fine, as well. Paint the dowel rod also. Let the disc and dowel rod dry completely.

 

While the paint is drying, prep the smaller discs. Surround the fabric circle around one FloraCraft Make It: Fun® Foam Disc, pulling it tight and using the hot glue to secure it in the back. Repeat with the other two FloraCraft Make It: Fun® Foam Discs.

Glue one fabric felt circle to the back of each FloraCraft Make It: Fun® Foam Disc to hide where you’ve glued the fabric circle onto the disc.

 

Grab the Design It:® Simple Style® Diamond Wrap. Cut it to fit around the sides of the small FloraCraft Make It: Fun® Foam Discs. Cut one for each disc. Cut the letters “BOO” from the Design It:® Simple Style® Diamond Wrap.

 

Use the glue to secure the strips around the sides of the discs and one letter to each disc.

 

 

Use the scissors to cut a small hole in the bottom of the Design It:® Simple Style® Diamond Wrap and fabric. Do this for each disc. Insert a dowel rod into each disc, applying glue inside the hole to help secure the dowel rod.

 

Use the same technique to insert the other end of the dowel rod into the larger disc. Spread fake spider webbing across the bottom of the large disc, securing with glue.
