Bird’s Nest Diaper Cake

Last weekend, I decided to make a diaper cake for a baby shower. I wanted to make something different than the regular ol’ diaper cakes that I’ve made in the past. So I settled on a sweet Birds’ Nest diaper cake.

I’m not going to post a full diaper cake tutorial- there’s hundreds of them on the internet, and most people already have one that they know how to do. But here’s a few tips on how I made mine.
I used my Cricut to cut out the bird shapes. But bird shapes are pretty basic, and I think it would be easy to free hand. The Cricut cartridge I used it “Everyday Pop-Up Cards”.
I also used my Cricut to cut out the letters. I hot glued them to twine and then glued the twine to the birds’ beaks.
The “nest” is simply brown paper scraps.
I dove into my fabric stash for the green material to cover the diapers.
I added a few cutesy toys that went along with the birds’ nest theme.

If nothing else, I had fun making the diaper cake. Do you have any diaper cake tips to share?

I have never made a diaper cake or seen one at a shower. Weird, right?? This is really cute, though, I espcially love the “nest” part – what a cute touch! I will have to dig up all those tips next time I have an expectant friend. 😉

I’ve never made a diaper cake, but my sister in law has. She’s made some themed cakes upon request, and I think she’d appreciate this cute spring style! Great job, looks so pretty!
