Being Champions For Kids with the National RazorFest Pack A Sack campaign #MobilizingMillions

I am a member of the Collective Bias®  Social Fabric® Community.  This shop has been compensated as part of a social shopper insights study forCollective Bias®  and Champions For Kids.  #MobilizingMillions #cbias #SocialFabric All opinions regarding this experience are totally my own.
If you are a frequent reader here, then you know that my husband is a youth minister. I’ve occasionally shared service projects that our youth group has participated in, so you know how dear to our hearts that we hold helping in the community. When I received the opportunity to get involved in the Champions For Kids Pack A Sack SIMPLE service project, I jumped at the chance for our group to participate!
The Champions for Kids Pack a Sack campaign encourages everyone to take time this spring to collect non-perishable food items for their local food pantry. Lots of kids go without food during the summertime when school is no longer in session. Stocking your local food pantry now will go a long way in helping these kids in the coming summer months.

The students in our youth group are privileged to be bountifully fed year-round, but they all know of someone who is not. Our focus was to collect non-perishable food items and donate them to our local church food pantry. This will allow us to bless kids in need that we personally know or who walk through our doors with food.

We began our service project by visiting Wal-mart to purchase our donation items. We made sure to get the best bang for our buck. We bought several canned food items and packaged rice. I also decided to buy a bottle of Pedialyte to have on hand at our pantry so that we would have something on hand for a family with smaller kids.

Once we bought our items and had received  few other donations, I realized that we had too many for one “sack”, so we decided to decorate a Donation Box.

A few of our group’s boys took the box to our church food pantry. They unloaded the food and helped to stock our pantry!
Organizing a Pack a Sack campaign for your youth group or family is easy. Our group completed our service project in the matter of a weekend! It’s so simple to make a difference for a child this summer. Be a Champion for Kids and host your own campaign soon!

Awww, I love seeing your service photos! So proud of the boys, and what a great reminder. I think we tend to forget this time of year – we should go through our pantry this week and see what extras we have. I’m lucky to have a donation drop off about a mile away.

This is fantastic!! It’s so important to remind our kids just how blessed they are and that the things they take for granted every day aren’t always there for other people.

You made a good point that stocking our food pantries NOW will help them better prepare for the Summer. It always makes me sad to know that some children don’t eat as well (or barely at all) when they aren’t in school.

What an amazing campaign to be involved in! It is so important to help contribute to lowering the staggering number of families who go hungry everyday. I am used to seeing efforts like this take place over Thanksgiving and the holidays, but it is truly awesome to see this campaign going on over the summer, when a lot of kids will go hungry because they can’t receive school meals. Good on you and your youth group for doing what you can!

How fantastic that you were able to gather enough donations that you have to convert to Pack A Box! That is wonderful 🙂 Such a great experience for the kids to be involved from start to finish – really helps to instill that love of giving. I completely agree – in any community their are children in need and the kids always know. Thank you so much for sharing your experience! I hope you inspire many to Pack A Sack, or a Box, to help!
