Basketball Peanut Butter Crackers

Get ready for game time with these easy Basketball Peanut Butter Crackers!

Do you live in an area that is enthusiastic for basketball this time of the year? I definitely do! Basketball fever is strong with all ages here where we live. My son came home from school last week telling how a boy at his table insisted that he declare his favorite basketball team to the class so that they all know for whom he is rooting. Did I mention that my son is in preschool? Haha!

We prep for game day with tasty snacks that accompany the basketball theme. It’s hard to cheer on my favorite team if I am stuck in the kitchen, so I stick with easy to prep snacks that can be made ahead of time. I grab everyone’s favorite items, like OREO® Cookies, RITZ® Crackers, Coca-Cola® Classic, and POWERADE® Mountain Berry Blast, while on a Target run. I like using my Cartwheel app, especially when I can save 25% on these game day snacks. Game day prep made easy, just like this Basketball Peanut Butter Cracker recipe.

The ingredient list for the recipe is wonderfully short. You may already have most of these items in your pantry!

Ingredients:

  • RITZ® Crackers
  • Peanut Butter
  • Orange melting discs
  • Your favorite melting chocolate- this can be melting chocolate squares, black melting discs, frosting that you choose to pipe, or (my personal favorite) ready made decorator’s icing in a piping bag.

Place an ample amount of peanut butter in between two RITZ® Crackers, making sure that the edges are clean and that minimal to no peanut butter is hanging off the sides.

Melt the orange discs according to the package directions.

Dip the peanut butter crackers into the bowl. Do you see the yummy RITZ® Cracker goodness peeking here? Yum!

Use the melting chocolate to create the look of a basketball on top.

Serve on a tray alongside plain RITZ® Crackers for those who enjoy savory along with their sweet!

And, of course, pair them with everyone’s favorite beverages, like Coca-Cola® Classic and POWERADE®.

Peanut butter cracker sandwiches were one of my favorite snacks as a kid! This is such a creative play on them that both kids and adults would love. They’d be perfect for a kid’s game or a March Madness party.

Oh how cool. I’ve never thought of doing that with Ritz. I’ve always just did it with Oreos. Thanks for suggesting that. The kids happen to love Ritz, oh and ya, me too! LOL! That’s actually better so the mix of salty and sweet works. Maybe we’ll make it pink basketball instead, hehe. With Coke for me by the way!

I always come up short when it comes to snack foods for my husband’s game days. He’d enjoy these basketball crackers. I’m not sure which will delight him more … my intentions or the food itself.

Wanna bump it up a notch!!! melt a rollo between the crackers and then dip in the chocolate…line a cookie sheet with a layer of crackers..place one rollo in the center of each cracker and place in the oven at 350 degrees for 3 to 4 minutes..remove from oven and place a cracker on top, mashing it down slightly…let cool and dip in melted chocolate..The combination of the caramel, salt and chocolate is out of this world..

I’ve made those at Christmas but I sure wish I would have thought of this when my son was younger. He was crazy for basketball and this would have been so fun for a party. Maybe I’ll do for another event for him.
