I debated about the title for this post. My initial title was “Toilet Paper Holder Napkin Rings”. I was trying to focus on the repurpose aspect of the project. But then I wondered if that would distract readers from the craftiness of the post. I didn’t want anyone to get hung up on the bathroom mention. Granted, the bathroom has very little to do with this post. Or maybe it has a lot to do with it. After all, the more that I use the bathroom, the more product that I have for this project. My readers who know how many people we have in the house will probably assume that we have plenty of supplies for this project. They would be correct.
I used my trusty Cricut for these Americana Napkin Rings to make it easy. Since the shapes are stars, they can be simply replicated. Most crafters probably have the makings for this project in their craft room already. These napkin rings seriously only take 10-15 minutes to make, so they are a great addition to any cookout! I shared yesterday how I used them with our grilled pizza.
Supplies:
- Cardstock
- Baker’s twine
- Hole punch
- Empty toilet paper roll centers
- Glue
- (OPTIONAL) A cardboard or chipboard material is an option for anyone who wants to make a sturdy backing for the shapes. This would mainly be needed for those who want to make these more permanent.
Begin by cutting out the star shapes. Using my Cricut, I cut out a collection of 3″ and 2″ stars in a mixture of red, white, and blue card stock.
Glue the 2″ stars to the center of the 3″ stars. Once again, I cannot find my traditional glue stick. Apparently, my daughter hides them. So I am using a Bring Pink Elmer’s Glue Stick again.
Punch holes in the sides of the stars.
Cut a length of baker’s twine approximately 14″ long. Fold in half. Thread the ends through one of the holes in a star.
Bring the ends back through the loop to form a knot.
Tie the twine around the toilet paper roll center and through the hole in the opposite side of the star. Tie a knot/bow to secure.
Add napkin. Assure your guests that you washed your hands before making them. 🙂
