A Potty Training Update

If you’ve been following me on social media, then you know that we’ve been potty training the triplets over the past two weeks. It’s been adventurous, to say the least, and we are no where near completion, but I thought that I would pop in and give you a quick update on how our potty endeavors are faring.

-We’ve had no day time wet accidents in about a little over a week. This is our biggest victory for sure! It only took three days for all the boys to realize that wetting in their undies is NO fun for anyone! We even ventured out of the house this past Sunday. This made me nervous because they had not been anywhere except for home for a week. I was afraid that the distractions of being out and about would make them forget to go to the bathroom. But, nope, still no wet accidents! Hooray!

-However, 1 out of the 3 is scared (as in, literally afraid) to do a #2  in the potty. He has an accident almost every day. He catches himself and then finishes in the potty, but he’s afraid to sit and try in the beginning and basically goes when he has no other choice. My husband brought home this interesting book to read to the triplets, and my one who is apprehensive about going #2 found it quite captivating. It has seemed to help some.

-The boys caught have caught on to standing and going potty quicker than I thought. I taught them to sit down, but after their dad showed them how to stand up and go, and it seems to be more fun than sitting. I suppose there’s more fun in aiming? But I’m a girl with no experience in that area, so I’m not sure.

-One little issue I would have never expected is keeping the boys from flushing wipes. There’s three of them, and only one of me, and they were grabbing wipes (even from the next room- they were not in the bathroom) and using them to clean up but then throwing them in the toilet! Uh-oh! My husband, the former plumber, had a freak out. We solved the problem by replacing all the wipes in the house with Cottonelle® FreshCare® Flushable Cleansing Cloths. Cottonelle® FreshCare® Flushable Cleansing Cloths feature SafeFlush Technology™, so they start to break down immediately. They are not only alcohol-free, but are also sewer- and septic-safe. I would have never imagined that I would have to stop using traditional wipes so soon, but by switching to Cottonelle® FreshCare® Flushable Cleansing Cloths I do not have to be concerned if the boys are flushing them down the toilet.
