A New Kitchen Sink!

Have I ever told you that my husband’s family owns a plumbing company? Before we had kids, my husband used to help out his brother on nights and weekends in the family business. As a result, he learned many tips and tricks. For instance, he can fix a toilet in a matter of about 5 minutes. He is sometimes asked to go to friends’ houses and fix their toilets and other plumbing problems that aren’t working correctly. He also learned a lot about water purity.

We have well water at our house, and we have had our water tested several times. We have never had anything wrong with our water, but my husband has always wanted to make sure that our water fell into the proper purity standards. If you’ve ever tested your water with one of those kits, then you know that it sometimes takes a while to send it off and get results. We were fortunate enough this past week to get to try a kit that gives immediate results! We just had our water tested last year, and it was fine, so I was pleased to see that our water test results from this home kit came back under all safe parameters, as well.

With the amount of time that my husband thinks about the purity of our drinking water, when Pfister wanted to partner with us to try out the new Pfister Clarity faucet with Xtract technology, he was very excited. Whole house water purification systems can be quite expensive, and the thought of having that available directly via the kitchen faucet sounded awesome!

My husband had the faucet installed in about an hour. It is easy to use, and the water filters are hooked up directly under the sink in the cabinet.

What exactly does Xtract technology mean? The Pfister Clarity faucet delivers filtered water AND tap water from the same faucet. It uses GE® 2X High Flow Filtration to reduce contaminants such as pharmaceuticals, chlorine, and lead. There is no learning curve to this faucet. It works like any other faucet. Simply push the handle back to get cold filtered water! (The faucet does not dispense hot filtered water).

This faucet is a great addition to our kitchen. Not only is it attractive with a large arch for big pots and pans, but the filter system will help us save money in the long run.

We have never used filter pitchers, but we have purchased way too much bottled water over the years. By utilizing a reusable cup, we can say “bye-bye” to the bottled water. This will also help reduce our environmental footprint, so it’s a win-win!

Of note, I did retake one of the instant water purity tests after installing the faucet. The results for me were the same. However, I do not have to second guess our water and retest it over and over now that we have the Pfister Clarity with Xtract Technology faucet. Since we already have a base of great water, and now we are running it through a filtering system as a double check, I know that our water is safe for us and our kiddos!

  • Do you know the purity (contaminant levels) of the water that comes out of your tap? Is it completely safe to drink?
  • What are some frustrations you have with your current source of filtered water?
  • How much do you spend yearly on bottled water?
  • How much would you reduce your environmental footprint by boycotting bottled water?
