Diapers are the perfect baby shower gift! Read on for 3 Ways to Gift Diapers at a Baby Shower. This post is sponsored by Huggies®.
If you have friends or family expecting a baby, I’m going to let you in on a little secret.
Diapers are the best gift a new parent can receive for their baby’s shower.
As a mom of triplets, I had three new itty bitty ones once upon a time. An excellent diaper stash was my new best friend once those little ones arrived. Yes, moms-to-be get heart eyes over the cute rompers and non-essential baby shoes, but when she’s fumbling around at 3 am, nothing is more crucial than a diaper when she needs it!
Do you want to be the MVP at the next diaper shower that you attend? Grab a one month’s supply of Huggies® Diapers from Sam’s Club to get the best diaper value. Exclusive Huggies® diapers bundles purchased at SamsClub.com average approximately twenty five cents per diaper. The Huggies® Diaper bundles come in a variety of sizes, making it easy to help new parents by creating a diaper stash that they need for every stage.
One of the most common complaints that I hear about gifting diapers at baby showers is that the gift seems un-creative. While I’m of the notion that it’s better to be practical than creative when preparing parents for a new baby, I hear ya! And that’s why I’m helping you out with these three ways to gift diapers at a baby shower.
A Diaper Decoration
From diaper baskets to diaper wreaths to diaper cakes, diapers make decorations that are cute AND practical. Diaper cakes are my favorite diaper decoration to create. Making a simple diaper cake doesn’t take long and is easy to customize. Today, I’m going to give you the supply list and tutorial on how to make your own basic diaper cake. Once you have created the base, you can add items or tiers to it to make it totally your own!
Diaper Cake Supply list:
- 10 inch cardboard circle – I use pre-made cake circle bases from the craft store
- Rubber bands (At least one large rubber band for securing the entire cake)
- Huggies® diapers
- 1.5″ ribbon
- Bow
For a 10″ cardboard circle, I used 19 size 2 Huggies® diapers. If you are using a different size, you will need less or more diapers to complete the cake.
Begin by rolling a diaper and securing it with a rubber band as shown below.
Pro tip: Make sure that the folded bottom portion of the diaper is on the outside. This will create a more even texture for assembling the diapers within the diaper cake.
Continue until you have enough rolled diapers to complete the diaper cake.
Place all the diapers on the cardboard circle and secure with a huge rubber band.
Pro Tip: Can’t find a large rubber band? Tie a length of soft elastic band that will fit around all the diapers. It works the same without squishing the diapers.
Tie a length of decorative ribbon around the entire cake. Add a decorative bow in the front.
Pro Tip: If at all possible, avoid using hot glue when assembling the cake to keep from ruining any of the diapers. If you find yourself needing to secure some of the decorative elements with hot glue or another adhesive, try to only place the adhesive on other decorative elements (such as the ribbon or elastic) rather than on the diapers themselves.
From here, you can continue to customize the diaper cake as you wish. Here are a few decorative ideas:
- Continue adding another tier or two to the base of the cake. Do not add other cardboard circles. Instead, place two or three dowel rods into the base layer and adding other tiers on top.
- Decorate the diaper cake with other baby necessities, such as washcloths, socks, rattles, bottles, etc.
- Add a cute stuffed animal as a cake topper.
As a Game
Gifting diapers as part of a game is another fun way to shower the new parent with diapers. New moms always need advice and encouragement. One easy diaper related game is to have seasoned parents write their best piece of advice or a note of encouragement on the outside of the diaper. The new mom then takes the diapers home and can read them during those late night diaper changes.
Other diaper game ideas include
- A diaper changing relay- Participants see who can change a diaper on a doll the quickest. Challenging dads against other dads is always fun in this game.
- Diaper pricing game- Participants guess how much diapers cost.
As a Group Gift
Stock new parents up to the max by providing them with the ultimate Huggies® Diapers collection group gift!
Grab one of each size to prep parents for several months ahead. By minimizing their trips to the store to have to pick up diapers, you’re saving the new parents time and money with a gift that is appreciated and necessary.

What great ideas!! The diaper “cakes” are always super cute.
What a great idea for a gift. I wish i was that crafty. Huggies was our go to brand for diapers back when our girls were babies.
Diaper are definitely an essential for mothers. Always useful to have around. I would’ve bought a years supply if Sams Club was around when I had my kid.
Oh my goodness that diaper cake idea for a baby shower gift is such a cute idea! I never would have thought of that – I have a friend who just gave birth and I know she could use more diapers so I am going to have to make her one!
I usually just bring them in the box. I love your idea so much better.
I almost always include diapers in a baby shower gift because you can never have too many! I like how you added the decorative elements to the front of the cake!
What great ideas. I especially love that idea of writing advice on the outside of the diapers. It would be such a welcome bit of encouragement reading them during diaper changes.
These are all really cute ideas! I was thrilled to get plenty of diapers when I had my son. Now, I give them along with another gift at every baby shower. You never realize how many you need until it’s 3AM and you realize you’re about out, lol.
We did this before when we throw a baby shower for our colleagues. Indeed such a practical way and gift for expectant moms.
This is so timely! A lot of my friends are holding baby showers so I’ll be making full use of your tips here. Thanks for sharing 😀
I love this idea to turn it into a cake!! So practical yet fun too!
Perfect gift for a Mommy-to-be!
