A special thanks to Elmer’s for sponsoring today’s post. I’m happy to be sharing this post as a part of their 2015 CraftyParents Crew!
Eek! It’s almost back to school time! I have a few friends whose children attend year round school, and I’ve already been spying pictures on social media of these kiddos heading back to class. I honestly have no idea where the summer went. Our summer has been nothing but doctor’s appointments, I feel, but my daughter and I have been sneaking in lots of crafting time. She’s a bit nervous about the new school year, so I decided to distract her for a bit by combining crafting with school supplies! We pulled out our craft tools and Elmer’s products and designed three different ways to customize a supply case or pencil box. After finishing these, I had the thought that this would make a cool back to school party idea. You know, let the kids have a little party where each child decorates a pencil box? That’s just a little bug to put in your brain. Whether you have a party or not, these 3 Ways to Customize a Supply Case are easy and fun!
Here is a complete supply list for all three boxes. I have broken it down according to each box:

Canvas Flower Supply Case
Gather the materials in the supply list above.
Remove the label from the supply case.
Using the Elmer’s X-treme School Glue Stick, place glue where the glitter ribbon will go.
Cut the glitter ribbon the length of the supply case. Adhere it to the supply case by pressing the ribbon firmly on the glue.
Repeat with remaining glitter ribbon in the desired pattern.
Squeeze a generous amount of X-treme School Glue on the back of the canvas flower.
Press the canvas flower to the center of the supply case.
Squeeze a dime size amount of glue on the back of the large button. Press the button in the center of the canvas flower. You may have to press and hold for a minute or two to make sure that the button holds.
Let the glue dry completely. Supply Case 1 is done!
Geometric Supply Case
Gather the supplies in the above list.
Remove the label from the supply case.
Cover the middle of the supply case with washi tape, using the scissors to cut. The washi tape will adhere to the supply case without any glue.
Paint the circles. Let them dry completely.
Squeeze a generous amount of Elmer’s X-treme School Glue on the backs of the circles. Press them firmly on the supply case over the washi tape.
Let the glue dry completely. Supply Case 2 is done!
Painted Dot Supply Case
Gather the supplies from the correct list above.
Remove the label from the supply case.
Pull out the letter from the Elmer’s Board Mate Repositionable Letters and Numbers that corresponds to the first letter of your child’s name. Use the X-treme School Glue Stick to adhere the letter to the center front of the supply case.
Use the Elmer’s Painters Neon Brights Paint Markers to brighten up the supply case.
Let the paint dry completely. Supply Case 3 is finished!
We packed our supply cases with our Elmer’s glue products. No fancier way to store them, right?
Which of these supply case idea is your favorite? What other ways can you think of to customize a supply case?
These are SO fun! I really love the glitter ribbon one . . . very cute!
I love the one with the flower!!!
These are so fun! I find I’m much better at being organized if the containers are cute! 🙂
This is a great project to keep the kids occupied and help them get ready for school!
