I have a confession. Over the past 18 months, I have been a terrible friend. Luckily, all my true friends have been understanding that I’ve been a little busy, you know, having triplets. But I’m regaining a sense of consciousness now, and I am aware of all the events that I have missed out on over the past year. I’ve spaced out on birthday parties, weddings, anniversaries, and baby showers. One event that I especially regret overlooking is the birth of a good friend’s baby, Adrianne from Happy Hour Projects. She was so supportive when I was pregnant with the triplets, and I might have posted a quick, “Congrats!” on her Facebook wall when she gave birth. Yeah, that’s terrible– I know. Much to my dismay, her little one’s first birthday is rolling around, and I haven’t even sent his baby shower gift yet. So what sort of belated baby shower gift do I send to an almost one year old? My experience with triplets gives me a great advantage here. I know exactly what to send– a little box with a few custom goodies and Diaper Genie refills!

Last year, I made over our Diaper Genie to match the babies’ nursery. I keep our Diaper Genie refills on the dresser next to the diaper basket and the boys’ necessities. This way, they are always handy for when I need them.

Our boys go through so many diapers– between 20 and 30 a day, to be exact– that we’ve taken to using a regular trash can in some instances. But we still like using our Diaper Genie to keep the nursery fresh. Heaven knows that I don’t have time to be running up and making sure the nursery isn’t stinky multiple times a day. Since I’ve found a stock-up supply of Diaper Genie refills to be extremely helpful, I decided to include them in a Belated-Baby-Shower-First-Birthday-Mini-Celebration-in-a-Box to send to my understanding friend.

Assembling a gift box such as this is easy. I headed to Target to purchase three Diaper Genie Refills. Target often has them on sale, so I was able to get a good price. I’ll let you in on another cool offer, too. Purchase 3 or more varieties of Diaper Genie at Target and save the receipt. Then submit the receipt via the offer website and claim a $25 Spa Finder Wellness Gift Card (while supplies last). I was able to get a practical gift for a friend AND some much needed me-time for myself!

I assumed that typical baby shower gifts wouldn’t do in a year belated box. So I added a few fun birthday essentials in this First Birthday Mini Celebration in a Box– a baby-sized hat, a matching badge, a balloon, a streamer, and a note.

I’m excited to see pictures of the adorable birthday boy in his hat, and I wish him a wonderful, special day. And the Diaper Genie refills will be there to help with the special clean-up after the party clean-up, if you know what I mean.

Who would you buy Diaper Genie Refills for– yourself or a baby shower gift for a friend?

We love the diaper gene II. I did not like my diaper gene I. I hated smashing the poopy diapers against the lid to push them in. The poop would squish out. Loved using the newer one!

I think these are such a great baby shower gift idea. And I’m guessing your friends totally understand busy with triplets. 😉

I naively thought I didnt need a diaper genie with my first born.. then her room started to stink – even with scented trash bags that were frequently changed! Needless to say we bought a diaper genie.
